Catholic Schools Inspection
This took place on 14th - 15th November, and inspectors graded St. Mark’s as Outstanding overall and Grade 1 (Outstanding) in all 9 areas of the inspection framework. This is an incredible achievement. The report is attached and it captures the excellence of the RE department as well as our outstanding whole school Catholic Life and Mission and Collective Worship.
The Chief Inspector of Schools writes to all Headteachers and this is an extract from her letter:
"Many congratulations to you and the entire St Mark’s community on this outstanding CSI report. The report captures very well the vibrant, faith-filled community you have fostered. From the inspirational leadership of your governors and senior staff to the students’ active embodiment of Catholic values, it is evident that St Mark’s is not just a school, but a community united by faith, service, and excellence.
Your commitment to Catholic life and mission really stands out. The report highlights the joy and sense of security felt by students, the sense of belonging and purpose, and the care shown for each individual. Initiatives such as the Faith in Action campaign, the care home visits, and the toy drive demonstrate how you live out Catholic Social Teaching with love and generosity. The fact that over 225 students applied to be Catholic Ambassadors speaks volumes about the inspiring leadership and shared vision at St Mark’s.
Your achievements in Religious Education are rightly celebrated. The outstanding progress made by students, the high levels of engagement, and the dynamic lessons rooted in deep theological understanding reflect the dedication of your teaching staff. It is wonderful to read about how you challenge and support students, helping them achieve academic excellence while nurturing their faith and moral reasoning."
