SEND
Mission Statement
St. Mark’s is a Catholic School which has at its heart a love of God, the education of its students, and a mission to serve our neighbours and community. We seek to foster a spirit of truth, reconciliation, justice and peace. We are committed to developing the spiritual, intellectual, moral, cultural, social and physical potential of all our members within a safe and supportive environment.
Accomodation and Resources
SEND has access to a welcoming room and adjoining office with curriculum resources, including five computers that are connected to the internet and school servers.
Room 11 is open to all students before school, at break time and lunchtime for students to complete work and socialise, supervised by LSAs. We are also open after school for support with homework.
Department Philosophy
We aim to support within the classroom as much as possible liaising with staff across the curriculum, making sure that our students understand the lesson objectives. We strive to ensure each individual pupil reaches their full potential. Our work is essential to the effective teaching and learning of our students, providing necessary links with the home, outside agencies and primary schools. Our duty is to monitor the welfare of our students within the St Mark’s learning environment and the wider community as well as their academic progress.
Our Work
In addition to regular, timetabled in-class support, we develop literacy, numerical, social and other skills.
Our interventions:
- Paired Reading Scheme for Year 7
- Homework Club for Years 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11
- Touch typing/handwriting recovery
- Gardening Club
