Developing Leadership
We provide many opportunities for students to develop their leadership skills. All sixth form students are expected to set an example to younger students. All sixth formers are expected to make a contribution to the St. Mark’s community through a number of ways which include: paired reading with younger students, in-class support, taking part in charitable events such as CAFOD Family Fast Day, Charities Week and the Christmas fund-raising as part of the Faith in Action Course. Recently our students have had the opportunity to support visiting students from Oakland’s Special School in Science lessons. This has been an excellent and rewarding experience for St. Mark’s and Oakland’s students. A group of students visited Tanzania on an Outlook Expedition Project.
Sixth Formers participate in organising the school council and participate in their own school council. The student voice has led to significant improvements in facilities at St. Mark’s.
Students also have the opportunity to serve as House Captains and school officials such as Head Boy and Head Girl and their Deputies, Sports Captains, Charities Representatives and Senior Prefects.
