The Drama Department aims for all students to achieve their God given potential through developing skills in the three key areas of; Creating, Performing and Evaluating Drama. Students will explore a range of themes and theatre styles alongside developing practical and team working skills that will be transferable in other subjects and outside of the classroom. The Department aims to develop individuals who are confident members of the school community and wider society, aware of their own worth and value.
Drama lessons take place in our State of the Art Theatre which hosts a flat level performance area, fixed seating for 200 audience members, and a mezzanine for sound and theatrical control. The department also has exclusive use of an adjoining well- equipped Drama Studio consisting of hung lighting, adjustable staging, theatre curtains, white board, sound system and an extensive costume and props store.
We pride ourselves on producing original and challenging work; it is a reputation we are keen to enhance and expand. The normal academic year sees the production of a major School Production which involves students from each year group as well as smaller public performances from our exam classes.
We run a Key Stage 3 Drama club once a week which enables students lower down in the school to come together to interact with their peers, develop their skills and collaborate to create fun and original work.
Teaching provision in Key Stage 3 is for one period (50 mins) a week and students are taught in form groups. The students are set a homework task on Google Classroom once every half term.
